Brimming with supernatural phenomena, the small, swampy island town of La Cachette, Louisiana, is the kind of place where you can’t necessarily trust your own eyes and ears.
But nonetheless I found the characters quite enthralling and the plot twist a distasteful yet amazing/ unexpected ending.I read this book in one afternoon because I could not put it down! This is going in my top ten reads of 2021.ĭeliciously creepy and atmospheric, this book brings the Louisiana bayou to life. Also like some of the words were very repetitive like I don’t need to hear about your electric feeling when you touch Zale for the 1000000th time. That is because I rated it 4 stars I also didn’t agree with Grey 90% of the time. I mean it would have been better if Hart and Elora were not actually step siblings because I still would have not seen it coming and I would have been less disgusted. I mean if my friend told me they were secretly dating their step sibling I would be disappointed and disgusted. I mean I really thought Hart was the murder when he was telling his story. Like I found quite disturbing because they are literally step siblings and they have been step sibling since they were little 😳. I am still astonished that Elora and Hart liked each other and were planning on running away together. I really didn’t expect the murder to be Evie I really thought it was Zale. I really am in disbelief about the ending. Spoilers for if someone wants to talk about the unexpected ending Tags: Suicide, Gory, many swear words (a ton of f bombs), Underage drinking, Sexual topics, two characters make out and almost have sex more than once, Self Harm, Incest ( not implied but two family members are secretly dating), a ton of things about numerology and tarot cards My tags may contain spoilers so if you want nothing to do with spoilers do not look at it and click off of this review. Warning: it is extremely sad and can be distasteful especially at the end. Also the names of characters are extremely weird. I really enjoyed this book however the book can be very slow at times.
